In 1963 ,Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani gained admission in to the institute of administration , Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria, for the assistant executive officer's course. During 1963 -1964 He was an assistant executive officer in the Northern Nigerian Government . He later joined Federal Ministery of Internal Affairs as an Immigration officer.
In 1969-70 , Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani attended the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he underwent the Administrative Management Training Course (A M T C) . He left for United States and was enrolled in Ohio University where he graduated with B.A and M.A in political science. On return home , Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani was first posted to Kazaure Local government with the rank of divisional officer and then assigned to various ministries in the State as an administrative officer.In 1979 , he resigned his appointment as with Kano State Government and joined the Great Nigerian's People Party (G N P P ) and was appointed as an administrative secretary. After the 1979 elections Governor Abubakar Rimi Made Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani the commissioner for Ministry of Home Affairs and Information . He served in this capacity till he was appointed as the Emir of Gumel.
The emir has visited many countries including the United Kingdom , Belgium, Netherlands,West Germany , Egypt , Saudi Arabia ,he has traveled widely in United States and Canada .
While in School Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad was member of various associations organization. Among them where Rumfa Debating Society ,Muslims Students Association , Ohio University U S A . He was Chairman Triumph Publishing Company Limited , Kano and member of jesis Kano Chapter. His hobbies include horse riding , gardening and Photography.
